We were thrilled to volunteer and join Salford Youth Zone’s Youth Worker team, which hosted around eighty 8-12 year olds who had lots of fun at EMPOWER’s amazing youth centre in inner city Salford.

The theme of the day was ‘The Olympics’, where teams spent the morning: playing football; using up lots of energy in games like Bulldog and Grandmothers Footsteps; undertaking challenges on the climbing wall; playing drums and guitars in the music room; colouring in Olympic flags in the arts and crafts room and enjoying a lovely picnic lunch together.

These children live in one of the most deprived wards in Salford. Jackie Cuthbert, Head of Sustainability & Social Impact said “It was heartwarming to see the children relax, and just be children having fun playing together, without any form of screens in sight! This is the second event we have supported, following our May 2026 ‘Careers Taster Day’ with NG Bailey and Kier, and we look forward to working together more to support this charity in the future!”
